The Morgenland All Star Band has been fascinating audiences with its global web of traditional, jazz and rock sounds since 2012. The band unites some of the most illustrious musicians from the Middle East with jazz giants from Europe. The band is exhilarating, whether at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam, in the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, the Philharmonic Hall in Almaty, the Saygun Culture Center in Izmir or on tour through China. In 2020 the Society of the Friends of the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück commissioned new works from seven of the musicians - each of them distinguished soloists and composers – to help them through the financial strictures of the Corona pandemic, when concert life had come to a complete standstill.  The works by Jalgasbek Iles (Kazakhstan), Dima Orsho (Syria/USA), Merima Ključo (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Moslem Rahal (Syria/Spain), Yasamin Shahhosseini (Iran), Salman Gambarov (Azerbaijan) and Ibrahim Keivo (Syria/Germany) will now be premiered during the Festival by the Morgenland All Star Band and guest musicians.

The compositional commission is sponsored by Gesellschaft der Freunde. Morgenland Festival Osnabrück, Stiftung Niedersachsen, Verkehrsverein Stadt und Land Osnabrück e.V., Terre des Hommes Deutschland e.V. und Sparkasse Osnabrück.
