The Morgenland Festival Osnabrück 2006 had Iran as its main theme. It was opened by the first ever concert of the Tehran Symphony Orchestra in Germany. Under its conductor Nader Mashayekhi the TSO played works by Riahi, Mashayekhi, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Frank Zappa.
Daniel Barenboim spontaneously offered the State Opera Unter den Linden for a further concert.
The orchestra also played a chamber orchestra concert in the Schinkel church of Schloss Neuhardenberg.
Deutschlandradio Kultur relayed the Osnabrück concert live on radio. A live recording is available on CD. Further highlights were a concert with the Afghani singer Farhad Darya, the appearances of Rabih Abou-Khalil and Midori with the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra, the Iraqi Maqam Singer Farida Muhammad Ali, the Egyptian violinist Abdo Dagher, and many more.
