Sheen Trio & Sofia Labropoulou

Shabnam Parvaresh, born and raised in Tehran, is blessed with extraordinary talents. She studied fine arts, played clarinet in the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, moved to Osnabrück where she studied jazz, started a series of experimental music concerts and founded her own trio: the Sheen Trio. With bass clarinet, electric guitar, drums and electronics, she creates her very own world of sound that is celebrated by critics and audiences alike.

This appearance at the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück is long overdue. Shabnam didn't need to think long about which guest she would like to invite: the Greek kanun player Sofia Labropoulou. “Our collaboration is driven by a shared desire to challenge conventions and create a sound that defies categorisation,” she says. “With this partnership, we want to celebrate our cultural diversity, respect our respective musical roots while taking the freedom to transcend genres and embrace the unexpected.”
