Young Morgenland: Morgenland Youngsters meet Baku & Istanbul

What actually is maqam? This was the title of the Morgenland Academy, a week-long workshop for young music enthusiasts, which is a very special concern of the festival. The Morgenland Youngsters emerged from the academy, an ensemble of talented young musicians who have all gone on to study music.

The Morgenland Youngsters travelled to Baku and Istanbul in March and April, where they rehearsed with their peers and performed in clubs and a theatre. What better way to round off the festival than to continue this musical adventure in the City of Peace?

Weather permitting, there will be a jam session by "Young Morgenland" on Friday 16 August from 18:30.
