Ensemble Musikfabrik

Ensemble Musikfabrik

The Ensemble Musikfabrik, one of the foremost contemporary music ensembles, will be performing at the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück with a program that focuses on composers of the diaspora, showcasing their aesthetic diversity and strength. Since 1990, the Cologne-based ensemble of international soloists has had a profound influence on contemporary classical music – thanks to their innovative concert formats, close collaboration with international composers, and various concert series including “Musikfabrik im WDR” and the “Montagskonzerte”. Numerous productions on Wergo and the ensemble’s own label document their ongoing artistic explorations.

For the Morgenland Festival, Musikfabrik are presenting a program that amplifies various diasporic composers’ aesthetic voices – music shaped by experiences of migration, cultural diversity, and the deeply rooted search for new sonic identities.

Program Composers:

  1. Farzia Fallah – Her music unfolds delicately modeled, quietly luminous soundscapes that combine precise structures with a keen sensitivity for color and time. Leading ensembles and orchestras have premiered her works. Fallah is now one of the most distinctive voices of a new generation of Iranian composers in Europe.
  2. Malika Kishino – Born in Kyoto, based in Cologne, Kishino composes highly organic “sound organisms” in which French modernism, Japanese aesthetics, and electronic processes merge into living, breathing musical phenomena.
  3. Violeta Dinescu – Her unmistakable musical language draws on Romanian folklore and Byzantine traditions, which she imbues with compelling personal expression using contemporary compositional approaches.
  4. Shayan Gorzin – The young Iranian composer combines microtonal and spectral approaches with elements of Iranian music, exploring new forms of harmony, timbre, and temporal development.
  5. Mazyar Kashian – His works are characterized by highly precise pitch developments, complex formal processes, and an analytically sharpened sonic architecture that creates space for compelling musical experiences.

With this program, Ensemble Musikfabrik unveil a multifaceted musical landscape in which personal biographies, cultural movements, and advanced contemporary musical idiom can meet.
