Saba Alizadeh & Pietro Caramelli

Concert
Kunsthalle Osnabrück , 20:30
With Rituals of the Last Dawn, Iranian composer and musician Saba Alizadeh and Italian experimental artist Pietro Caramelli present their latest collaborative work: a captivating sonic ritual, in which elements of electroacoustic composition, ambient music, and experimental improvisation are woven together.
Saba Alizadeh, son of the internationally famous tar virtuoso Hossein Alizadeh, studied experimental sound practices at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). His artistic and academic work explores the concept of silence in musical, historical, and socio-political contexts. As a virtuoso of the Persian string instrument Kamanche, Alizadeh is deeply rooted in Iranian classical music, continuously reimagining its sonic and expressive possibilities.
In Rituals of the Last Dawn, Alizadeh combines his open, atmospheric structures with Caramelli’s work on prepared guitar, modular synthesizers, and live processing. Together, they create a fragile yet powerful musical dialogue which erases the lines between composition and improvisation, man and machine, memory and the present. Sound becomes a space while listening becomes a shared moment of perception and reflection.
To those experiencing Alizadeh and Caramelli for the first time: You can expect an atmospheric, cinematic, and emotional evening, during which silence and resonance share equal importance – and music is not only performed, but becomes a ritualistic experience.
