Christine Zayed is a Palestinian Arab musician with a rich background in Arabic and Middle Eastern music. As a singer, composer, and qanun player, she brings over 20 years of experience, grounded in classical Arabic music, Maqam, Taqseem, and Mawwal. Christine’s approach blends traditional and contemporary elements, which is reflected in her 2024 album Kama Kuntu (T-Recs). She has also made her mark as a composer for cinema, winning an award in 2023 for her work on Un jeudi pour Darwin, and her compositions have been featured in award-winning short films such as Sokrania 59 and Dinar.
The Christine Zayed Trio is a musical journey rooted in themes of displacement, identity, and emotional resilience. It draws inspiration from classical Arabic music, particularly Palestinian poetry. The trio’s sound combines the melodic richness of the qanun with the expressive depth of voice and instrumental textures. Through this unique blend, the trio evokes the complexities of belonging, love, loss, and transformation, offering a heartfelt reflection on the human experience in a constantly shifting world.
