When the guitarist Giovanni Weiss and his quartet meet up with the jazz violinist Sandro Roy, it is an encounter in the spirit of the “Hot Club de France”. This was the name of the group formed around the jazz legends Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grapelli, which set the style for this type of music. However, they are not only influenced by Django and the Hot Club de France: five virtuoso artists mix ‘standards’ with compositions of their own, thus combining the past and the present. The so-called “Gypsy Swing” or “Sinti Jazz”, which connects the past master Django Reinhardt and his musical successors, is a completely independent musical language in jazz and European music culture, which has continually incorporated new creative impulses.
