Junges Morgenland: Nazareth - Takht Sharqi
For several years, the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück organised a music school exchange between the Polyphony Conservatory in Nazareth and the Music and Art School of Osnabrück. Children and young people from Nazareth and Osnabrück played music together and learnt about their respective worlds. Some people may still remember the fantastic young musicians who came to Osnabrück; a young Yamen Saadi, who was about 10 years old at the time, is now concertmaster of the Vienna State Opera.
As part of our Young Morgenland series, we are looking forward to the Takht Sharqi ensemble from the Beit Almusica Conservatory, which specialises in classical Arabic music and new compositions by Arab composers. It consists of five Palestinian musicians, most of whom are graduates of the Beit Almusica Conservatory and come from Nazareth, Shefa-Amr and other cities in the Galilee. The programme is curated by the composer, oud and buzuq player Amer Nakhleh.
Line-up:
